Within a few minutes, Wise's troops, but not Wise, who was shot and took a couple of days to die, were over the wall on the northern side. Some sources claim the stockade was attacked from all sides, but others appear to make clear that at least two sides can't have experienced this sort of attack, because they were being covered by horse troops who couldn't jump the wall. Or could they? Well, we're blowed if we know, but probably not.
However, the foot soldiers to the west most certainly appear to have broken through, probably shortly after Wise's men, if not Wise, broke over the northern wall.
